Everyone deserves a quality life. But what if that life required the help of others? What if grandma was too ill to drive to her doctor’s appointment? Or, what if grandma couldn’t take care of grandpa with disabilities? Not everyone has the support they need. Taking care of another human life requires commitment, compassion and humility.
For aging seniors, adults with disabilities and grandparents raising grandchildren this is a life of hardship. Duet, a nonprofit, understands these challenges and CEO Elizabeth Banta, a stalwart leader is making it her mission to lead the organization to help care for these individuals with the respect and dignity that they deserve.
What makes you cry?
Hearing poignant stories from the people we serve.
When did you tell a little white lie?
When my daughter left for the Peace Corps I told myself that time will fly.
What makes you smile?
Spotting seeds that have sprouted in my tiny vegetable garden.
What is your most used word?
“That is super great!”
What are 3 words people use to describe you.
Tries her best.
Something you knew growing up?
When juggling too much it’s ok to ask for help – including with housekeeping.
What is your biggest pet peeve?
To see things thrown away that could be recycled.
What important for your success?
To inspire others to join me in building a strong endowment for Duet.
Who are your mentors?
My mother – who blazed trails and continues to be my role model – and Dosia Carlson, Duet’s founder.
