Don Guerra’s Barrio Bagel & Slice, located at 689 N. Arizona Ave., is celebrating its first anniversary with the debut of its Good Bread Matters event. This series of activities, giveaways and discounts takes place in the days leading up to the official anniversary celebration on Thursday, April 16.

“We have received tremendous community support in the short year that we have been open and are so grateful to every single person who came to see what we’re all about,” said Don Guerra, co-owner of Barrio Bagel & Slice with business partner Oren Molovinsky. “This celebration is a ‘thank you’ to our community and customers. We look forward to many more years of celebrations and breaking bread together as a community.”

Loyalists and new customers alike can join in on the fun and enjoy specials and discounts. Beginning Monday, April 13 through Wednesday, April 15, rewards members can rack up five-times rewards points on breads and retail bagels with cream cheese. Barrio Bagel & Slice is also launching an exclusive cold brew drink available only during this celebratory week.

On Thursday, April 16, the official anniversary celebration begins with giveaways and family activities from 2 to 4 p.m., including:

Ribbon-cutting ceremony with Gilbert Chamber of Commerce officials at 2 p.m.
Buy one, get one (BOGO) pizza slices and bagels with cream cheese
Kids’ dough “breaducation” class with Don Guerra, the bread master himself, and milling local grains with Hayden Flour Mills’ own Jeff Zimmerman
Raffle with prizes including gift cards for Barrio Bagel & Slice and Arizona Wilderness Brewing Co.

Then, from 4 to 6 p.m. guests can enjoy:

The theme for the event, Good Bread Matters, focuses not only on the intention that Barrio Bagel & Slice imparts into every menu item but also on the dedication to serving nutritious and purposeful food to the community in which it resides.
