Comfycozy’s For Chemo
It was a mother’s worst nightmare. When the pediatrician broke the news to Lorraine Tallman that her 9-year-old daughter Amanda had leukemia, it was the last thing she had expected. Their world went from normal kid stuff like karate lessons and Lego buildings to hospital visits and chemo therapy treatments. It was a painful and uncertain time. Somehow, through it all, Amanda seem to find her smile when everyone else couldn’t.
After months of treatment, Amanda told her mother that once she was better, she would create a clothing line designed especially for kids going through treatment. Amanda hated chemo therapy because it made her feel vulnerable and exposed. To her, it didn’t have to be a humiliating experience. Her clothes would give kids the dignity that they deserved. Tallman knew just how important this dream was to Amanda and saw to it that she carried out her last wish.
In 2013, Tallman founded Comfycozy’s for Chemo, an organization that provides the dignity and comfort to children with cancer and other blood related disorders with a simple and fun shirt. Thanks to Amanda’s vision, kids can now find comfort during some of their toughest days.
