Relevant Wright

Architect's principles have much to teach today's practitioners.

"When my daughter was 7 years old, she asked, ‘Daddy, why do you always talk about Frank Lloyd Wright so much?’

“And I would tell her, ‘Well, he was my teacher,’ " recalls Phoenix architect and civic planner Vern Swaback.

“ ‘Really?’ she said. ‘What grade?’ "

Swaback once was an apprentice at Wright’s Taliesin and Taliesin West, and like many currently working architects, he continues to learn lessons from his teacher.
