STARS Now Offering Transportation Services to Seniors & Disabled Individuals

Scottsdale Training and Rehabilitation Services (STARS) is a nonprofit focused on helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. They are now offering transportation services for senior citizens aged 65+ and those with disabilities in Scottsdale. The service is in partnership with the City of Scottsdale’s “Cab Connection” voucher program. It allows individuals or their caregivers to schedule rides to and from the Wheels to Meals program, dialysis and medical appointments.

“This is a great opportunity for STARS to help out the seniors in our community with their transportation needs,” said STARS facilities & mobility innovation manager Justin MacGregor, adding, “We are ready and willing to assist whenever the need arises.”

Transportation is available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Users simply call 480-237-6609 to schedule a ride. STARS asks for riders to call at least 2 hours ahead of time.

Additionally, there are vehicles that are able to accommodate individuals who use a wheelchair or other mobility aid.

STARS will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2023. Their mission is to improve quality of life for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities through day programs, on-site work centers, community-based employment training opportunities, and transition programs for young adults.
