Fiesta Bowl Charities, SRP and KABOOM! Build New Playground at Camp Verde Elementary School

Children at Camp Verde Elementary in Camp Verde, Ariz., have a new, state-of-the-art play space thanks to funding from SRP as part of the Fiesta Bowl Charities 2021-22 grant cycle.

Volunteers from Fiesta Bowl Charities, SRP and KABOOM! came together to build the 2,000 square-foot playground from the ground up. The new playground integrated ideas from students at the school and Camp Verde community members, resulting in a one-of-a-kind build, the 11th playground in the state constructed by Fiesta Bowl Charities and KABOOM!

“As a not-for-profit, community utility, SRP strives to help build strong communities and that starts with our children,” said Kevin Rolfe, SRP community activation strategist. “We’re honored to join Fiesta Bowl Charities in supporting the Camp Verde community with a new playground that will provide joy to kids and lend a hand to our neighbors when it is needed most.”

Play is essential to physical, creative, cognitive, social and emotional development. The new playground serves more than 300 children who attend Camp Verde Elementary School and live in the surrounding area. It provides additional access to play, as well as opportunities for creativity and teamwork that didn’t previously exist, as all children at Camp Verde shared one play structure.
