Cancer Support Community Arizona (CSCAZ) has named Aaron Dunn its new Chief Development Officer, bringing more than 25 years of nonprofit leadership experience to the organization as it works to expand its impact across the state.
In his role, Dunn will lead the development strategy, working alongside CEO Kristen Genovese and the development team to strengthen donor relationships and increase philanthropic investment. His responsibilities will include corporate partnerships and sponsorships, individual and major gifts, fundraising events and legacy giving. Dunn’s leadership will help build the financial foundation needed to support continued growth and a mission to serve individuals and families affected by cancer.
“Aaron’s warmth is contagious, and his talent brings so much possibility to CSCAZ,” Genovese said. “He has a natural ability to connect with people and help them see what their generosity can make possible. As we work to expand our impact across Arizona, his experience in donor development and fundraising will help us secure the resources to bring that vision to life.”
Dunn joins CSCAZ with an extensive background in nonprofit development and organizational leadership. He previously served as executive director for the American Diabetes Association’s Desert Southwest market and held leadership positions with Blood Cancer United, formerly The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, in Arizona and Colorado.
His experience also includes leading organizations serving older adults and individuals affected by substance use. Throughout his career, Dunn has helped secure more than $20 million in funding, building relationships with donors and community partners to support nonprofit missions. For Dunn, the opportunity to join CSCAZ is rooted in the personal connections that make philanthropy possible.
“Giving is personal, and I look forward to getting to know the donors and partners who believe in this community,” Dunn said. “I’m excited to build on that generosity, welcome new supporters, and help create lasting investment in CSCAZ’s future.”
A graduate of Grand Canyon University, Dunn earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Phoenix-based institution. Outside of his professional work, he is a fine art photographer who enjoys making memories with his family and serving the community. With his background in fundraising, partnership development and nonprofit leadership, Dunn will help guide efforts to build lasting relationships and expand the resources available to those navigating a cancer diagnosis.
