Every year, Arizona’s community comes together to support children and families facing some of life’s most difficult medical challenges. This year, that generosity translated into nearly $2.5 million for Phoenix Children’s during the annual KTAR News 92.3 FM and Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Give-A-Thon.

Held August 17-21, the weeklong radiothon brought together listeners, businesses, community partners and donors from across the state. More than 2,000 gifts were made during the campaign, including 1,332 supporters who became Champions of Hope through recurring or larger one-time donations. All proceeds benefit the Phoenix Children’s Hope Fund, which gives the health system flexibility to direct funding where it is needed most. Donations help support pioneering research, advanced technology, physician recruitment and programs designed to improve care and comfort for young patients and their families.

“The success of this year’s Give-A-Thon is a powerful reflection of how deeply our community believes in the mission of Phoenix Children’s,” said Tim Harrison, vice president of corporate partnerships, special events and grants philanthropy at PCH. “We are incredibly grateful to KTAR News, Arizona Sports, Valley Hyundai Dealers, Yrefy and every sponsor, donor and supporter who made this possible. Their generosity helps us continue investing in exceptional care, innovative treatments and vital programs that make a meaningful difference for children and families throughout Arizona.”

Throughout Give-A-Thon week, listeners heard Stories of Hope from Phoenix Children’s patients and families, offering a firsthand look at the difference philanthropic support can make during a child’s medical journey. The campaign also encouraged listeners to become Champions of Hope by making a recurring gift of at least $20 per month or a one-time donation of $240 or more. For every new Champion, a Phoenix Children’s patient receives a teddy bear in the donor’s honor, creating a small moment of comfort and joy during a hospital stay.

This year, 1,332 donors answered that call, extending the impact of the Give-A-Thon beyond its five-day campaign. The Give-A-Thon has grown into the top children’s hospital radiothon in the country, but its biggest impact is felt by the children and families who rely on Phoenix Children’s for care.

“The incredible generosity of our community and the audiences of KTAR News and Arizona Sports answered the call once again to support Phoenix Children’s, the best children’s hospital system in the country,” said Bonneville Phoenix Senior Vice President and Market Manager, Ryan Hatch. “It would not be possible without the big hearts and tremendous efforts of our sponsors, volunteers, partners and employees.”

For Phoenix Children’s, the nearly $2.5 million raised represents more than a successful fundraising campaign. It is an investment in the research, technology, physicians and programs that help children receive the care they need, and give their families hope along the way.
