Arizona Cardinals Foundation Awards $400K to Launch New Care Platform at Barrow

The Arizona Cardinals Foundation is investing $400,000 in Barrow Neurological Foundation to help establish a new transitional care platform for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) at Barrow Neurological Institute.
The grant marks the beginning of a three-year commitment from the foundation to support collaborative programs that promote inclusion and expand access to care for people living with IDDs across Arizona.
The new Barrow IDD Care Platform is designed to help patients and their families navigate the often-complex transition from pediatric to adult healthcare. The program will provide personalized education, advocacy resources and care planning tools that empower individuals to better understand and manage their health while supporting caregivers through each stage of life.
By bringing together patients, families, healthcare providers and care partners, the platform aims to create individualized care plans while establishing Barrow as a trusted destination for long-term transitional support.
“It’s estimated that 1 in 20 people in the U.S. lives with an IDD. As this community grows and ages, more support will be needed – we’re committed to making a lasting, sustainable impact for the IDD community throughout Arizona,” said Bob Hamer, executive director of the Arizona Cardinals Foundation.
The funding represents the foundational investment needed to launch the initiative, which organizers hope will continue to grow through additional community support and partnerships.

As more members of our community learn about the unique attributes and benefits of the Barrow IDD Program, we anticipate seeing even greater interest in supporting this initiative,” said Michele Gregory, president of Barrow Neurological Foundation.
Once established, the Barrow IDD Care Platform will provide comprehensive, person-centered care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping ensure they receive the resources, guidance and support needed to successfully navigate healthcare throughout adulthood.
