Style Unlocked: What’s Up, Buttercup?

Settle into yellow. The “it” color of the moment, the season, and likely through summer’s end, is butter yellow.
Smooth and mild — just like Les Prés Salés (if you know, you know) — this subtle, unassuming shade of yellow is everywhere. With its gentle, feminine disposition, butter yellow is a hit from casual to even formal wear (when done right), thanks to its ability to pair with a wide range of tones and serve as a modern neutral.
If you’re thinking, no thanks, yellow isn’t for me, I hear you, and you’re not alone. Depending on tones, hair color and traits that make us uniquely beautiful, pale yellow may not be the most flattering for some. (Side note: This article I penned in October 2024 covers color analysis, if you’re unsure.)
But hold up, buttercup. This doesn’t mean your opportunity to wear the trendy color just melted away. Adding butter yellow as an accent by way of an accessory or a clothing item that isn’t in close proximity to skin (think ankle socks with loafers or wide-leg trousers) makes it absolutely wearable. With Easter Sunday only three days away, get creative, hop to it and slice the pretty pastel into your look if you celebrate.
Butter yellow is the golden egg of the season — and bonus, chicks dig it.
