Center for the Rights of Abused Children Gathers for Special ‘Rooftop Celebration’

The Center for the Rights of Abused Children hosted its Rooftop Reception and Celebration of Hope on Dec. 7, 2023, with an incredible foster care advocate as they raised funds to fulfill their mission to protect children, change laws and inspire people.

Event Co-Chairs: Celia & Kent McClelland

Championship Sponsors: Amy & Kasey Thompson | Pivotal Foundation | Dionne & F. Francis Najafi

Keynote Speaker: Tori Hope Petersen, Mrs. Universe 2022

Notable Moments: Keynote speaker Tori Hope Petersen, the author of “Fostered: One Woman’s Powerful Story of Finding Faith and Family through Foster Care,” shared her story about her life growing up. Petersen had lived in 12 foster homes by age 15. She was on her way to becoming another statistic when her track and field coach saw something in her and later led her to four state championships and All-American status as an athlete. Today, Petersen is a mother, motivational speaker and advocate for the complex needs of foster children nationwide.
