NourishPHX raised nearly $85,000 at its seventh annual Beyond the Pantry event, bringing the Phoenix nonprofit closer to completing its new Wellness & Skill Center. The funds will support a space designed to expand access to free classes, entrepreneurship programs and health and wellness offerings for community members.
Founded in 1983, NourishPHX is a food and clothing bank working to fight poverty throughout the Valley. The organization serves more than 25,000 people annually, providing essential resources while helping individuals and families access support, build skills and improve their well-being. The new center will expand NourishPHX’s offerings to include additional exercise classes, meditation and mindfulness workshops, and programs focused on stress relief, mental health and overall wellness.
“Having food on the table can ease an immediate worry, but families need opportunities to care for themselves and build toward their goals, too,” said Beth Fiorenza, executive director of NourishPHX. “Our community’s generosity is helping us create a space where people can learn a new skill, find support or simply take a breath during a difficult week.”
Beyond the Pantry highlighted the organization’s work over the past year, honored volunteers and celebrated the clients who are part of its community. The evening featured a “Best Taco” competition with chefs Jeff Kraus of Crepe Bar, Bridget Quijano of Bibi’s Latin Kitchen and Adam Allison of Brightside Catering Co.
Guests participated in a silent auction offering experiences like a wine tasting at Cooper’s Hawk, a two-night stay at Clear Sky Resort Grand Canyon and a NASCAR race experience. With the new Wellness & Skill Center, NourishPHX aims to build on its essential food and clothing services by creating additional opportunities for community members to learn, connect and prioritize their health.
The expanded programming will provide another way for the organization to help Valley residents navigate challenges and work toward greater stability. For more behnid this Frontdoor, visit nourishphx.org.
