Set in a near-future United States, Sweat Variant’s adaku, part 2 follows a young woman who receives sudden revelations of long-forgotten ancestral history. Part of a trilogy about a family in precolonial West Africa that becomes entangled in the transatlantic slave trade, the production uses text, sound, song, movement and spatial design to explore legacy, ritual and possible futures.
