Child Crisis Arizona has received a $250,000 grant from The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation to strengthen services for vulnerable children and families across Arizona.
The funding will support the organization’s broad continuum of prevention, intervention and wellness programs, allowing Child Crisis Arizona to direct resources where they are needed most. Its services range from emergency shelter and residential care to foster care and adoption, early education, parenting education, counseling, family support, wellness programs and independent living services for young adults transitioning from foster care.
“This generous investment allows us to respond wherever the need is greatest, whether helping a child find safety, giving parents the tools they need to succeed, expanding access to early education, or ensuring young adults leaving foster care have the support to build independent, successful lives,” said Torrie A. Taj, chief executive officer at Child Crisis Arizona. “Together, we are creating lasting change that will benefit Arizona families for generations.”
The organization serves children and families experiencing or at risk of abuse, neglect, housing instability, family disruption or the absence of a safe caregiver. By offering both immediate support and longer-term services, Child Crisis Arizona works to address the circumstances that can put families at risk while helping them build stability.
“When a family is in crisis, there’s rarely just one problem to solve,” said Bob Parsons, Co-Founder of The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation. “Child Crisis Arizona knows that better than most. They have the experience to navigate tough situations from every angle and help families come out stronger on the other side.”
The grant will help Child Crisis Arizona continue that approach across its programs, including services for children from birth through age 21, families involved with foster care and adoption, and young adults preparing for independent lives after foster care.
The partnership also includes opportunities for the foundation to see the organization’s work firsthand. Renee Parsons recently visited the Child Crisis Arizona Center for Child & Family Wellness, where she participated alongside families in a musical movement class hosted in partnership with Rosie’s House. The visit offered a glimpse into the center’s focus on connection, healing and resilience for both children and caregivers.
“My visit was filled with the kind of joyful moments that stay with you, but it also reinforced just how essential this organization is to our community,” said Renee Parsons, Co-Founder of The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation. “They understand that supporting a child means supporting the entire family, and for nearly five decades they have been an invaluable source of care, stability and hope for Arizona families.”
As Child Crisis Arizona approaches 50 years of serving the Valley, the organization continues to combine immediate intervention with prevention and family support. The goal is not only to help children and families through a crisis, but also to provide resources that can help prevent future crises and create greater stability over time.
