National Family Caregivers Month is shining a spotlight on the people who quietly care for loved ones every day, and Care 4 the Caregivers is marking the occasion with a month of events designed to celebrate, support and connect. Throughout November, the nonprofit will host experiences in Tucson, Gilbert, Flagstaff and Phoenix, giving caregivers and their families opportunities to enjoy outings while connecting with others who understand the realities of caregiving.
“National Family Caregivers Month is an important reminder that behind every person receiving care is often a caregiver who needs support too,” said Michele Thorne, co-founder and CEO of Care 4 the Caregivers. “Our caregivers give so much of themselves to their families, and they deserve opportunities to feel appreciated, find community and take a break from the demands of caregiving. We’re honored to celebrate caregivers and provide experiences that remind them they are not alone.”
The month’s celebration begins November 7 in Tucson with an evening of dinner and a movie at Roadhouse Cinemas. On November 9, families and community members will gather in Gilbert for an advance screening of Being Heumann, a film highlighting disability rights advocate Judy Heumann and her lasting impact on the disability rights movement. The Apple TV-sponsored screening carries a special Arizona connection: Heumann’s brother, Rick, lives in Chandler.
The following evening, November 10, the organization will host a private event at Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, offering families in the disability community an opportunity to explore the Astronomy Discovery Center, enjoy dinner, experience a planetarium show and participate in private telescope viewings.
The month concludes November 21 with Paint Night at the Opera at the Phoenix Symphony, where 150 caregivers will gather for a holiday-inspired paint-and-sip experience featuring light appetizers, wine and live opera performances. The evening is designed to celebrate those who spend so much of their time caring for others through creativity, connection and shared experiences.
Beyond National Family Caregivers Month, Care 4 the Caregivers continues to serve as a year-round resource. Since its founding, the organization has grown to host more than 40 caregiver-focused events each month. The nonprofit offers free and low-cost virtual support groups, educational workshops and wellness activities that help reduce isolation and strengthen caregiver resilience. Caregivers also have access to free counseling and mental health programs designed specifically for the unique challenges they face. For more behind this Frontdoor, visit care4thecaregivers.org.
