A New East Valley Medical Respite Center Moves One Step Closer to Opening

Circle the City has received a transformational $1 million gift to support the completion of its new East Valley Medical Respite Center in Mesa, bringing the organization closer to opening a facility that will nearly double its medical respite capacity and expand access to care for individuals experiencing homelessness.

Scheduled to open later this year near Main and Higley streets, the 85-bed center will offer a safe place for people to recover after hospitalization while receiving comprehensive medical care, behavioral health services, nutritious meals, case management and connections to housing resources. The facility will also provide three meals a day and 24/7 medical care for vulnerable individuals recovering from illness.

Nearly 10,000 people experience homelessness every night in Maricopa County, highlighting the need for accessible medical respite services that bridge the gap between hospitalization and stable housing. The new East Valley center will strengthen Circle the City’s ability to provide that support while addressing the growing need for medical respite care throughout the East Valley.

In recognition of the $1 million gift, the center’s main lobby will be named in honor of The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation. The support will also help ensure the new facility is equipped to deliver high-quality, integrated healthcare for individuals facing homelessness. With its expanded capacity and comprehensive approach to recovery, the East Valley Medical Respite Center will give more people a place to heal safely while connecting them with the resources and support needed to take their next steps toward stability.
