CEO’s Versus Celebrities
Love that famous Chicago-style big ball softball? It’s time for the 10-year tradition with Avnet and Valley businesses for a 16” inch softball tournament to benefit several Valley charities on Saturday, April 6.
The 32 teams, 16 co-ed & 16 men’s teams made up of valley businesses will compete in the 10th Annual Avnet 16-Inch Softball Classic at the Tempe Sportsplex. Beginning at 8:30 a.m. the teams will be compete in this single elimination with one consolidation Chicago-style softball game in support of Spark of Hope, JDRF Foundation and the Toy Foundation.
“If you grew up playing big ball softball or have never played this great game with your bare hands, this is your chance to join us for the biggest round robin game of softball on April 6,” said Al Maag, Director of Avnet Communications. “This is a great afternoon of softball and Valley families really look forward to the live music, Chicago style hot dogs and activities for the kids.”
Spectators watch the Valley celebrities take on the CEO team at noon. The celebrity team includes Xtra Sports 910’s Dan Bickley, Mike Jurecki and Mike Bauer, along with Valley athletes from local teams and TV personalities including Tim Ring, Danny Zelesko and Jeff Santo. CEO’s from Avnet, Vienna, Suns, Dirks, Prisma, Spark, One Neck IT, Emerson, Viad, Portillos and Insight are all expected to play as well as Michael Bidwell from the Cardinals.
