Tour for Life Sneak Peek
Designed by PHX Architecture and built by Calvis Wyant Builders, with interiors by Cathy Stark, the home featured here is just one of many reasons to join this year’s Tour for Life to benefit the SW Center for HIV/AIDS on Oct. 27 and 28.
The owners of the 9,000 square foot Silverleaf home in north Scottsdale were inspired by images from their trip to Italy, says Erik Peterson, PHX Architecture principal, who captured the essence of the Old World in the rural Mediterranean-style home.
The outdoor patio affords amazing views and one-level living.
The lot has a spectacular view, says Tony Calvis. The owners’ goal was to capitalize on that view, and also to create a living space that is mainly on one floor. Working with Peterson, Calvis says they were able to achieve that goal, with the main living area and the backyard all on one level.
Peterson, Calvis says, captured the residential authenticity that is the hallmark of Silverleaf.
Cathy Stark worked with clients to achieve a warm, comfortable interior.
The collaboration with Calvis Wyant and PHX Architecture was a “joyful experience,” adds Cathy Stark, designer. “Every home is unique in its own way. What makes this one special is that it was a real collaboration that was comfortable and respectful and therefore joyful."
The inviting kitchen has the terra cotta walls that extend throughout the living area.
The owners, Stark says, have excellent taste to start with and were open to suggestions. “We did some bolder things with wall color. The whole living area downstairs, has terra cotta walls that create warmth in the big spaces.”
This home is on the Sunday agenda during Tour for Life.
