Svelte for the Holidays

You’ve heard of skinny jeans, skinny ties, skinny lattes. Now there are skinny Christmas trees. Retailers say Christmas trees, both real and fake, are popular in leaner sizes this year. “Slim” trees are typically as tall as regular trees, ranging up to 15 feet high, but they are only about half as wide. Even slimmer are “pencil” trees, which can be as narrow as 18 inches across.

Artificial-tree sellers are betting on the slim look. Sam’s Club is carrying artificial trees only in slim sizes this year. Home Depot and Lowe’s are offering a wide variety of slim models, although they are also selling bottom-heavy models.
