Spring’s Top Trends
Ana Maria Pimental, Neiman Marcus fashion director for women’s accessories, appeared at the Scottsdale Fashion Square store Jan. 18 to present the season’s top women’s fashion trends. Pimental is the former accessories director at Harper’s Bazaar. About 100 women filled the Neiman Marcus women’s shoe section for the occasion.
Pimental identified these trends to look for this spring:
1. COOL BLUES The color this spring is blue in its many tones, from a bright clear blue to navy. A variety of metals will be popular to go with it, rose gold, yellow gold, silver and colored metals.
2. ORANGE The new neutral for Spring 2013 is orange. A modern trend is to mix shades of the color.
3. PRINTS Prints are everywhere, and mixing them is fashionable.
4. GLADIATORS This Roman-inspired shoe, whether in flats or heels, is the key accessory for spring. A tip from Pimental is to choose the height heel you can wear comfortably.
5. RELAXED CHIC Comfortable casual design, including pajama-dressing, is an important trend. Deconstructing a suit and wearing the jacket with a soft T-shirt and jeans can achieve this look. Sneakers appear in most lines of shoes and work well with this outfit.
6. FACE-FRAMING JEWELRY Wearing a necklace that frames the face or layering a longer necklace with a shorter one is fashionable for spring.
7. HIGH-VOLTAGE HANDBAGS The season’s handbags appear structured, but have a softness to them.
8. LUCITE Look for this clear plastic in accessories from shoes to earrings.
