Runway to Success Event Celebrates Overcoming Education Obstacles

GateWay Community College hosted their second annual Runway to Success fundraising event on April 7 at the Phoenix Zoo’s C.W. & Modern Neely Education and Event Center.
More than 20 students volunteered to participate by walking the “Runway to Success.” These students, who were preparing to graduate, or who had already graduated, walked the red carpet to share their stories about the challenges (including homelessness, domestic abuse and pregnancy) they faced while pursuing their education, and how GateWay’s programs and faculty supported them and helped them to succeed.
“This is the second year we have hosted Runway to Success, and we were able to double attendance from last year,” said Kristin Gubser, director of external affairs and development. “More importantly, this allows us to raise funds to continue providing the scholarships and additional support our students need to succeed.”
