Penny McLeod Nissley

Community-minded Penny McLeod Nissley, 58, wife of Tony Nissley, died May 26, 2011, in Scottsdale, Ariz., after a long battle with cancer. Penny and Nick had one son, Patrick.

Born in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Richard Lee McLeod and Marie Lee McLeod.

Penny was a 1970 graduate of Edmunds High School and had been a resident of Paradise Valley since 1996. She donated her time, energies and expertise to such organizations as the Arizona Opera, the Phoenix Symphony, Scottsdale Healthcare Honor Ball, the Heart Ball and Trends Charitable Foundation. That which was closest to her heart, however, was the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
