Jane Enkema Buffmire

Jane Enkema Buffmire died peacefully June 29, 2012. Jane, a long time Valley resident, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born in 1923 to Abelius and Nella Patty Enkema in Minneapolis, Minn.

 

She graduated from Northwestern University, where she was a member of Alpha Phi sorority. At Northwestern, she met Donald K. Buffmire and became his sweetheart of Sigma Chi for the next 63 years.

 

In 1954, the Buffmire family moved to Phoenix where Donald K. Buffmire, M.D., formed Phoenix Medical Associates with Ashton B. Taylor, M.D.

 

Jane was a dedicated volunteer for many organizations throughout the Valley. She was a long-standing member of Orangewood Presbyterian Church, The Board of Visitors, Columbine Garden Club and Water for Rocks Ministries.

 

Jane is survived by her devoted children Barbara B. Kaiser (Malcolm D. Kaiser), Katherine B. Yatsko (Michael E. Yatsko), and Bruce E. Buffmire (Frederica Buffmire); 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and brothers, Wesley Enkema and Lewis Enkema.

 

Jane was a strong woman of faith who often said how much joy her family and friends brought to her. Everyone who met Jane cherished her remarkable kindness and thoughtfulness.
