Ethel Marie Scheu Gentes

Ethel Marie Scheu Gentes, 93, of Scottsdale, Ariz., passed away Aug. 13, 2012. Born May 24, 1919, in Buffalo, N.Y., where she met and married her husband of 69 years, George Adolph Gentes. She attended DePauw University. Ethel and George enjoyed years in Brown’s Point, Wash.; Lewiston, N.Y.; Hilton Head, S.C.; and Scottsdale.

Ethel devoted her life to her husband and children. She seemed to live to make life a little bit better and easier for those around her. She will be remembered for her selflessness, gentle integrity, her patient listening, and acceptance of others. She was never unkind, never judgmental. Not a birthday, birth, anniversary, wedding or graduation went by without her thoughtfulness.

She leaves a giant hole in the lives of those who loved her. She will be greatly missed by her husband, four children and their spouses: Leslie and Tom Sanders of Houston; Laurie and Drew Brown of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; Christine and Jeff Gentes of Seattle; and Tracy and Christopher Bennett of Scottsdale. She was especially loved by her 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
