Emily Jackson Humphrey

Emily Jackson Humphrey was born Sept. 16, 1935, and died on July 9, 2012, at age 76. She was born in the Double Bayou Community of Anahuac, Texas, and was the third child of five children born to the late Hugh and Lillian White Jackson. She graduated from Double Bayou High School and Wiley College.

 

She married Richard Humphrey, also of Anahuac, and they moved to Houston. Together, they raised three children. While in Houston, she was a faithful member of Jones Memorial United Methodist Church.

 

Mrs. Humphrey retired from the Houston Independent School District after 20 years of teaching music. After retirement and for health reasons, in 2000 she moved to Phoenix to live with her older daughter, Chevy, and her granddaughter, Kristen.

 

She is survived by her husband, Richard; three children, William Hugh Hadnott (Gwen), Arnita "Chevy" Humphrey, and Sarah Julienne Humphrey; three grandchildren, Evan William Hadnott, Kristen Alexandra Brown and Danielle Lillian Hadnott; two great grandchildren, Brie and Parris; two sisters, Judy Jackson and Frankie Jackson Long (Ronald); one Aunt, Dotsie Alexander; one uncle, Modesto White, Jr., (Bertha); two nieces, Connie Gaye Jackson, and Toni Long Marshall (Ray); one nephew, Loye James Jackson; and a host of very special cousins and beloved friends.
