Guests entered to the sounds of African music and drummers and then journeyed through the Sunset on the Serengeti-themed event while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and libations and bidding on an array of unique auctions item. Dinner was served lakeside and followed by dancing under the stars.

The zoo was beautifully lit for the colorful evening with millions of twinkle lights adorning trees throughout the property. In addition, a constructed tree resembling a Baobab was the lighted focal point of the lakeside dining area.

More than $450,000 was contributed as part of the event, allowing the zoo to continue its world-class conservation efforts, contribute to the care of its more than 1,400 animals and assure ongoing educational programs that inspire and promote stewardship of the natural world day-to-day and in the future.

Joellen Doornbos chaired the successful evening, and Yvonne A. and Steve Betts served as vice chairs. Carol and Randy Schilling were the honorary chairs.
