Promise Ball 2013

Promise-Ball-pic--entranceThe Promise Ball, one of the biggest charity events benefiting Junior Diabetes Research Foundation took place at Westin Kierland Resort on February 9, 2013.

The black-tie event not only brought in near record-breaking attendance it also well exceeded their fundraising goal with over $1.6M raised. With so many generous donations that ranged from auction items and personal commitments to tables purchased, research to cure type 1 diabetes (T1D) is that much closer.

The event this year was truly amazing with so many exciting elements contributing to its success, such as entertainment provided by Crystal Bowersox, the runner-up on the ninth season of American Idol, and 12 year old renowned pianist Ethan Bortnick, a robust list of supportive sponsors and unique silent and live auction items.
“I was honored to have performed at the JDRF Promise Ball,” said Ethan Bortnick.  He added, “the song I wrote “We promise You” is for all the people that are living with Type 1 Diabetes and our promise to find a cure! With the incredible support I saw tonight, I am confident that a cure will be found soon!  We promise you!”
“The success of this event is a result of teamwork.  Our Gala co-chairs, Vickie Larsen and Barb Murphy,  board members, volunteers and staff, our sponsors and guests,” said Cindy Adams, Executive Director.  “Everyone came together to raise over $1.6M to fund research to find a cure for this insidious disease.  We are very grateful for all of these individuals and corporations.”
JDRF will continue to fight until a cure for TID has been found and with over 3 million Americans currently living with TID, the fight has never been stronger and the need for support has never been greater.
