Toasting to Beer for Brains

A gastronomic glory supports brain tumor research.
Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort will play host to the third annual Epicuriad, food, wine and beer pairing competition. The March 22 culinary competition will bring out Arizona’s top chefs to vie for gastronomic glory and raise fund for the Phoenix-based Beer for Brains Foundation. The event will be held from 7:30 to 11 p.m. in Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort’s recently renovated Palacio venue.
Foodies, oenophiles, and craft beer lovers will reap the benefits as talented chefs work to pair a beer and wine with a spectacular dish. For each pairing, attendees will vote on whether the beer or the wine complements the dish better and will cast the final vote to decide which chef presented the overall best pairing.  This year’s event will also include a full dessert buffet, a raffle, and live music in a cocktail party setting.
“This year we are very excited to add a special feature to this year’s VIP portion of the evening –the ultimate battle between beer and wine,” said Louis Dolgoff, founder of the Beer for Brains Foundation. “Chef Kenneth Arneson from Rico’s American Grill at Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort will battle against one of our other talented chefs an Iron Chef-type competition. Who will cook with beer? Who will cook with wine? Which will win your vote?”
Tickets including the VIP event are priced at $100 and are very limited. The VIP chef battle will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $75.
