The album is based on literary inspirations and composed for expanded musical ensembles and orchestra, as well as songs from her previous top-selling albums.
Merchant began her career as the lead singer and lyricist for the trend-setting alternative rock band 10,000 Maniacs and later experienced a successful solo career with albums Tigerlily, Ophelia, Natalie Merchant Live and Motherland.
For her most recent album, Merchant adapted the poetry of E.E. Cummings, Ogden Nash, Robert Graves and more into songs influenced by klezmer, bluegrass, chamber, and folk music. Be captivated by this “brassy, deep singer” as she performs live with The Phoenix Symphony.
