Il Trovatore Brings Talent to Two Stages

Il TrovatoreArizona Opera continues its 2012-2013 Season with a new production of Verdi’s classic tale of love, death and vengeance, Il Trovatore, at Phoenix’s Symphony Hall March 1, 2, & 3.
The popular opera has not been produced at Arizona opera in nearly 20 years and includes the popular “Anvil Chorus,” one of the most famous pieces of music ever composed. Over the run of the production, about two hundred patrons will join the cast for an “On Stage Experience” as part of Azucena’s gypsy caravan and will also be on stage for the thrilling “Anvil Chorus.
This new production featured high-tech stage elements and projections, never before seen in an Arizona Opera production. The production has the honor of being the first cast to rehearse for a production in the new Arizona Opera Center, opening to the public this spring.
Two stars of the Il Trovatore cast, Karen Slack and Indra Thomas (who alternate in the role of Leonora) will also take the stage at the MIM Music Theater on Thursday, March 14, in “Bold & Bellissimo!,” as part of the Arizona opera up Close Series. The concert will include some of opera’s hits and the singer’s personal favorites. These divas are two of the most prolific voices in opera today and their voices will soar in an intimate venue. Thomas and Slack, bring strength, beauty, and vocal prowess to the stage.
