Fabulous Foods to Open Restaurant

Caterer Fabulous Food expects to open a restaurant at Desert Botanical Garden in early 2013. Chef Stephen Eldridge will be at the helm.

Gertrude’s is named after Mrs. Gertrude Divine Webster, an environmentalist ahead of her time, who founded the Desert Botanical Garden in 1939. Webster, in conjunction with a small group of Valley citizens, gathered in Papago Park to create a botanical garden to educate understand, appreciate and promote the uniqueness of the Sonoran Desert. She foresaw the potential to create a distinctive identity for the Phoenix area by envisioning the need to conserve the beautiful desert.

Fabulous Food plans to utilize fresh ingredients directly from the farm to the plate, showcasing local ingredients from artisans and farmers around Arizona and the Southwest.

Eldridge’s "Modern Arizona Cuisine" will be complemented by highly rated beer, wine and spirits. Gertrude’s will source fresh herbs and vegetables from its own garden located on property at the Desert Botanical Garden.
