St. Vincent de Paul Store Provides Low-Income Students with Christmas Shopping Spree

St. Vincent de Paul’s north Phoenix thrift store gave nearly 1,400 low-income elementary school students the opportunity to go on a shopping spree earlier this month where the space was transformed into “Santa’s Workshop” for the day.

“These kids get to enjoy the joy of sharing and gift-giving, all thanks to the generosity of our community, working together with us to collect toys and gifts all year long,” said Shannon Clancy, associate executive director of St. Vincent de Paul. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to make Christmas special for so many children and their families.”

The Palomino Primary School Students were able to shop for Christmas presents for their family members for just $1 each with the assistance of their own personal shopper.

This year marked the 29th year of the partnership, which serves a population where nearly 90 percent of students quality for subsidized meal programs.

St. Vincent de Paul is a nonprofit that has been serving central and northern Arizona families in need since 1946.
