The Nash brings jazz artists to Phoenix throughout January

Michael LeDonne

The Nash is bringing a variety of jazz acts to Phoenix in the month of January, including the Michael LeDonne Groover Quartet on Jan. 11th.

The 14-year jazz veteran from the famed “Smoke” jazz club in New York City will highlight the month of concerts at the downtown Phoenix club.

The concerts will include trumpeter Jason Carder with West by Northwest on Jan. 12 and Francine Reed on Jan. 9.

And, a new concept of dueling septets, “Sevens Run the Table,” will perform on Jan 18. The two separate ensembles of The Nash Composer’s Coalition will  premiere new compositions during each half of the program.

Preeminent jazz vocalist Sarah Elizabeth Charles comes to The Nash Jan. 20, and will give a masterclass and discussion prior to her concert at 3 pm. Charles will discuss the relationship between jazz and equality in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and in anticipation of Black History Month and Women’s History Month.

The Nash is located at 110 E. Roosevelt, in downtown Phoenix, on Roosevelt Row. TheNash.org.
