Scramble Joint Cooks Up Demo for Kids

Scramble — A Breakfast & Lunch Joint was one of five restaurants selected by Roosevelt School District to present a cooking demo to nearly 20 students in a summer enrichment program that gives an inside look at the food service industry.
“We are committed to giving back to the community, especially when it involves kids and dogs,” said Scramble’s co-owner Clay Moizo. We’re grateful to have been invited to offer these kids a chance to meet someone in the restaurant industry, watch a cooking demonstration, and ask questions about our industry.”
For the program, Scramble’s executive chef, Mike Williams, and kitchen manager, Jacob Schlink, demonstrated to the student’s how to make the signature Brizzas, or breakfast pizzas. The demonstration showed students to make the pizzas from scratch – including the dough, hollandaise sauce and all of the toppings.
Phoenix Councilwoman, Deb Stark, who claims Scramble as her favorite restaurant in her district, also attended the demonstration.
“This is a great program for the City of Phoenix – one that teaches these students valuable and much-needed culinary skills,” said Councilwoman Stark, who hopes to see the program expand to other school districts across the city. “Seeing local chefs create these dishes from scratch is such a great experience for these kids.”
Through the program participating students will also learn about nutrition, kitchen skills and food preparation.
