Seduction 2013 – The Costello Collection
Glitz and glamour filled the W Hotel Scottsdale on Oct. 6. More than 300 people gathered to see Michael Costello of Project Runway All-Star fame unveil his 2013 Spring Seduction Collection. Costello, who is well known for his draping expertise and one-seam-wonder gowns was on point, providing guidance for every aspect of the show from models' hair and makeup to the runway playlist, while courteously meeting with friends, fans and VIP guests who were invited backstage. In the midst of the beautiful pre-show chaos, Costello was able to maintain a serene composure, which he says is due to his rock, his spouse Richard.
The Spring Seduction 2013 collection, inspired by French women and Parisian couture, was filled with long black and gold gowns with varying cuts, textures and lines on fabrics that shimmered and sparkled down the runway set upon the hotel's rooftop. The hand workmanship on each piece was apparent, especially on Costello's favorite piece of the collection, a long sleeved caftan made of bronze-gold brocade fabric, pleated with an invisible belt.
Costello's talent is overshadowed only by his generosity. He has participated in numerous charitable fashion shows benefiting organizations such as Pennies for Homeless and Project Ethos. The organization closest to Costello's heart is the Desert Cancer Foundation in Cochella Valley, Calif. The foundation helps residents obtain financial assistance for cancer screenings, diagnosis and treatment. Michael also recently worked with Toni Braxton and Nigel Barker to raise money for Autism Speaks by designing a couture evening gown completely out of socks that were donated and signed by celebrities. The gown was auctioned and all proceeds went to the Autism Speaks mission of providing research, awareness and advocacy of autism.
The audience appreciated the grand finale to the Costello collection for the runway.
