Pat Cleveland to Share Life and Fashion Lessons at Phoenix Art Museum
Supporting the art of fashion since 1966, Arizona Costume Institute promotes the appreciation and understanding of fashion design through the acquisition and preservation of works of historical and aesthetic significance, educational programs and support for Phoenix Art Museum’s Fashion Design Department.
Second Wednesdays is one of the many benefits of becoming a member of this well established organization. Each month, members are invited to attend a lunch & lecture that hosts fashion experts from across the globe.
On Sept. 14, Phoenix Art Museum and Arizona Costume Institute will welcome renowned model Pat Cleveland, launching the fall program on a high note.
Cleveland will present thrilling tales from her international life in fashion – full of glamour, adventure and romance – as told in her new memoir Walking with the Muses, published in June.
Model Patricia Cleveland, born in New York City in 1950, initially attained success in the 1960s and 1970s and was one of the first African-American models within the fashion industry to achieve prominence as a runway model and print model. As early as 1980, the term “supermodel” was used to describe Pat Cleveland.
Following the lunch and the lecture, Cleveland will sign copies of Walking with the Muses.
