SARRC Celebrates Opening Night at ASU Gammage
The Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center celebrated the June 20 opening night of the Tony Award-winning play The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time at ASU Gammage. The organization was joined by Dr. Daniel Openden, SARRC president and CEO, and Colleen Jennings-Roggensack, Gammage executive director and vice president for Cultural Affairs. Almost 40 SARRC supporters joined the group.
SARRC hosted a reception prior to the play, in which the main character is a young boy whose symptoms and behavior suggest he has a mild form of autism spectrum disorder. The book and play have helped achieve widespread awareness of ASD. During the reception, Openden shared the recent development of SARRC’s new ThinkAsperger’s mobile app, a tool developed to help aid in the identification of ASD.
Established in 1997, SARRC is an internationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to autism research, education, evidence-based treatment and community outreach.
