Fun and fashion combine to raise nearly $700K for scholarships

More than 1,200 friends, family members and supporters of Brophy College Preparatory attended “Come Follow Me,” the 2014 Brophy Fashion Show, hosted by the Brophy Mothers’ Guild, with Saks Fifth Avenue and Brooks Brothers the presenting sponsors. The Nov. 14 luncheon was held at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Hotel.

The fun kicked off with a social hour and shopping followed by a luncheon and fashion presentation, presented by Saks Fifth Avenue. Professional models strutted the runway in fashions from the Oscar de la Renta Spring 2015 collection. Then members of the Brophy Senior Class took their turn down the runway, dressed in fashions by Brooks Brothers, Brophy Varsity Shop and Brophy Clubs and Sports.

The always-lively occasion raised nearly $700,000 for the Brophy Financial Aid Fund.

A lively crowd of 1,200 turned out for the 30th Annual Brophy College Preparatory Fashion Show and Luncheon on Oct. 30. The event at the Westin Kierland Resort and Spa was presented by the Mothers’ guild, longtime partner Saks Fifth Avenue and new retail partner Brooks Brothers.

Showcased on the runway were the fall trends, courtesy of Saks, followed by senior students dressed by Saks and Brooks Brothers and a presentation of the sports, clubs and activities offered at Brophy. The annual event is Brophy’s biggest fundraiser, this year raising about $500,000 for the Brophy Financial Aid Fund, which provides scholarships for more than 20 percent of the school’s students who would not otherwise be able to attend Brophy.

Brophy Fashion Show

One of the liveliest luncheons of every social season is the Brophy Fashion Show, hosted by the Brophy College Preparatory Mothers’ Guild to raise money for the school’s financial aid fund. This year’s event was Nov. 8 at the Camelback Inn.

To highlight the luncheon theme, “Men for Others” (which is also Brophy’s motto), centerpieces were custom lanterns, depicting a ring of men, women and children. The lanterns were available for purchase that day.

The menu included grilled organic chicken breast topped with locally grown produce from McClendon Farms, Blue Sky Farms and Seacat Gardens.

Brophy seniors walked the runway in their own jeans and Brophy attire, and professional models strutted the runway in fashions from luncheon co-sponsor Saks Fifth Avenue.

Lori Larcher and Elizabeth Saba chaired the event, which raised almost $400,000 for scholarships. Chairs-elect Polly Levine and Patti Oleson were co-chairs for the fashion show. Approximately 20 percent of Brophy students receive need-based financial aid.
