Assistance in Healthcare Hosts 3rd Project Pink Luncheon

Assistance In Healthcare hosted its Third Annual Project Pink vintage fashion show and luncheon Oct. 19 at the Wigwam Resort and Spa in Litchfield Park. The luncheon benefits cancer patients being treated in the Valley who need financial support for non-medical expenses. This year’s event went “teal” in honor of thyroid cancer and the AIH recipient. Thyroid cancer’s awareness colors are pink, teal and yellow.

Four hundred enthusiastic and generous guests attended the sold-out event. Within the first 30 minutes of the pre-luncheon networking portion of the day, all 75 of the Project Pink Mystery Boxes provided by Kendra Scott Jewelry at Scottsdale Quarter sold out. A raffle featuring a Louis Vuitton handbag and more also bolstered the coffers.

Christian recording artist Britahn Newbill opened the show, which was hosted by Emmy Award-winning journalist and CEO of Inspired Media 360 Carey Pena. This year’s co-hosts were Meredith McGuire and Sandra McGann. Josh Webb, an Assistance In Healthcare recipient and thyroid cancer patient, and his caregiver and mother, Pansy Willis, served as honorary co-chairs.

Webb and his mother gave inspirational speeches about their struggle and story and called two of his doctors, Dr. Andrew Goldstein and Dr. Suzi Kochar, on stage to celebrate with them.

Bob Stockley, who lost his first wife to cancer at age 28, conducted the Fund-an-AIH-Recipient, ending with everyone in the room raising their hands for the $100, $50 or $20 donation. He also led the live auction featuring a handcrafted brilliant pink crystal necklace and bracelet from Jewels by Alan Anderson. The winning bid went to Brad Stockwell, who bought the necklace and bracelet for his wife, Georgia, who is living with cancer and Parkinson’s disease. The $2,000 for the item will be used for additional money for children of Assistance In Healthcare recipients for Christmas presents.

Fashion by Robert Black presented a fashion show, with models provided by FORD/Robert Black Agency.

Cancer Treatment Centers of America and Physicians, Medical Diagnostic Imaging Group, Okland Construction and Byrd Hotel Group sponsored the luncheon.
