10th Annual Childhelp WINGS Fashion Show Luncheon Features Families on the Runway
The April 9 Childhelp WINGS Fashion Show Luncheon was its 10th annual, founded by Carol Hebets in 2007. Chaired by Tiffany Quayle and Addison Brown, this year’s event at the Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia involved whole families – plus committee members and local celebrities – strutting the runway together, with the youngsters upping the cute factor. Their cuteness probably also upped the “give” factor, as the mid-day event raised more than $130,000 to benefit the Arizona programs and services of Childhelp, including the national hotline, advocacy center and community center.
The fashion show was the main event, but the 370 guests also enjoyed silent and live auctions and a paddle raise, in addition to lunch.
Laurie and Bill Eckholm received the Childhelp Heart of an Angel Award for their dedication to the organization. The couple serve on the Childhelp National Board, attend every event, offer strategic leadership and donate essential resources.
Carol McElroy received the Childhelp Helping Hands Award. McElroy owns Durant’s, one of Arizona’s most iconic restaurants. Behind the scenes, she has packaged the restaurant’s famous food and delivered hot meals to boys and girls in emergency situations. In addition, she has contributed financially to many Childhelp initiatives.
Nick Ciletti, ABC 15 News, served as the day’s emcee, and Kevin Quinn from The Disney Channel’s Bunk’d was a surprise guest.
