SMoCA Mix Kickoff Party Previews Edgy Fashion and Design
The fourth SMoCA Mix was kicked off in festive style at Crush Lounge at Christopher’s Restaurant on Feb. 11. Event co-chair and Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art advisory board member Christian Serena, event co-chair Tracy Serena and advisory board member Oscar De las Salas hosted the affair.
Guests enjoyed cocktails and dishes prepared by James Beard Award-winning Chef Christopher Gross while experiencing an exclusive preview of SMoCA Mix 2016: Fashionably Avant-Garde, which will be held May 7. The annual fundraiser supporting SMoCA’s educational outreach, exhibitions and events will celebrate the leading edge of experimental and provocative fashion with the museum’s galleries transformed for the evening.
Christian and Tracy Serena with Neale Perl, Scottsdale Cultural Council president/CEO
Décor by Angelic Grove and models from FORD/Robert Black clad in dresses by Galina Couture hinted at the extravagant fashion and design that SMoCA Mix will showcase with live runway shows by couture designers, gourmet food and cocktails and energetic live entertainment. Guests for the May 7 event
are encouraged to dress the theme in black-tie avant-garde
and “expect the unexpected.”
