Waste Not Teams With Ncounter In Hunger Fight
Waste Not, Arizona’s only perishable food rescue organization, is teaming up with Ncounter during the restaurant’s downtown Phoenix location opening weekend to help put an end to hunger.
During Ncounter’s Grand Opening Weekend, taking place September 22 through 24, guests will enjoy discounts on beverages — like $3 beers and cocktails and $1 coffees — with a portion of proceeds benefiting Waste Not.
“Our Grand Opening Weekend is a momentous opportunity to celebrate our new downtown location and Ncounter’s emerging partnership with Waste Not,” said Kathryn Blackwell, president chief marketing officer for Due North Holdings.
The two organizations plan to continue their partnership, with Ncounter becoming an ongoing contributor of excess perishable food at its original Tempe location, new downtown Phoenix location and soon-to-be opened Scottsdale Airpark location.
“Hungry tummies do not aid in learning, in developing strong minds and bodies or in enabling young people to grow into healthy, secure adults,” said the president & CEO of Waste Not, Dee Mitten. “We hear of hungry children being unable to discern whether they are sick…or hungry. We must all unite to do what we can to get behind this crucial community and national issue and help feed our hungry kids. We are so thankful that Ncounter is committed to partnering with us in this noble cause.”
Waste Not rescues perishable food from a variety of donors including grocers, caterers, resorts and restaurants, then delivers the food to a network of over 100 nonprofits dedicated to feeding the hungry.
