The Sound of Speed 2
After a successful inaugural event in 2014, The Phoenix Symphony once again takes over downtown Phoenix with The Sound of Speed 2, a groundbreaking concert and street festival. On October 24, 2015, The Symphony promises to deliver a production unparalleled in the orchestral world, as cars, racing and music collide in this one-of-a-kind fundraising event. Guests at the event will be greeted by a spectacular Pit Road Street Festival showcasing rare and classic collector cars, bars and food trucks along 3rd Street. The Pit Road Street Festival will be followed by a multimedia concert experience at Symphony Hall.
Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions, returns as presenting sponsor and will showcase an entirely new selection of rare cars from collections around the world during the Pit Road Street Festival. In 2014, Barrett-Jackson showed 30 cars worth a combined total of over $100 million, including the original General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard, a 1966 Shelby 427 Cobra and a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO. This year, Barrett-Jackson promises to deliver even more.
Notable attendees from 2014 include Dukes of Hazzard star, Tom Wopat, and racing legends Jeff Gordon, Rusty Wallace, Ray Evernham, Chip Ganassi and Don Purdhomme
The Sound of Speed 2 will culminate with a live, multimedia concert by The Phoenix Symphony that celebrates the collision of cars, racing and music. The performance will feature musical tributes to cars and racing in film and pop culture as well as an all-American homage to the military and veterans.
“The Sound of Speed 2 promises to be bigger and better than last year,” said Jim Ward, President and CEO of The Phoenix Symphony. “We are thrilled to be working with Barrett-Jackson again to bring back this one-of-a-kind event with an all-new multimedia concert.”
“The Sound of Speed is one of the most unique events Barrett-Jackson has ever been a part of,” said Craig Jackson, Chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. “We are proud to partner with The Phoenix Symphony to raise money for its Education and Community Outreach programs.”
The Phoenix Symphony would like to recognize our Co-Chairs for this event: Carolyn and Craig Jackson, Nan and C.A. Howlett, and joining for the first year, Actor Frankie Muniz and his fiancé, Elycia Marie Turnbow. Muniz is best known as the star of the FOX television family sitcom Malcolm in the Middle, but he is also race car driver for Lamborghini and a passionate car collector.
