New Arizona Non-Profit Kicks Off Mission With Charity Concert
Project J.O.Y., a new charitable foundation that is working diligently on an ongoing basis to fund medical missions to impoverished areas of the Philippines, is hosting a benefit concert staring Arnel Pineda at Wild Horse Pass on August 2.
With a mission to adopt an underprivileged hospital in the Philippines, Project Joy will fundraise, with the help of places like GoFundMe, to provide medical and surgical equipment as well as collaborating with local medical professionals to help the hospital become a leading medical center providing a critical resource to the community.
Jenny Ho-Vijungco, founder, has created Project J.O.Y to honor her late father Dr. Jesus Ho who passed away in 2016. For more than 35 years, Dr. Ho spearheaded annual medical missions to different parts of the Philippines along with his wife, Dr. Priscilla Ho.
In January 2018, Dr. Priscilla Ho and their daughters Jenny Ho-Vijungco and Jessica Ho-Scara, along with Jenny’s husband, Dr. Joseph Vijungco made their first mission trip to the Philippines. Together with the Bisaya Medical Association, the City of Carcar and the Provincial Government of Cebu, they conducted a medical, surgical and dental mission in Carcar City, Cebu, Philippines. They treated more than 10,000 people and donated more than $15 million worth of equipment, supplies and medicines.
“I finally understand why my father insisted that we plan this medical mission.” Said Jenny. “Not only were we touched with the healing hands and hearts of all the missioners, we were overwhelmed by the number of sick people that stood in line for days for medical treatment.”
Rock for J.O.Y., the first ever Project J.O.Y event, is a concert event with an international flair featuring renowned singer and songwriter Arnel Pineda, a Philippines native who is the current lead singer of Journey. Pineda will play a host of classics and original songs, and proceeds will benefit Project J.O.Y. and its mission to provide medical supplies and training to impoverished areas of the Philippines.
Tickets range from $40 to $135, with the $135 ticket including a pre-event meet and greet with Pineda. All proceeds from the concert benefit Project J.O.Y.’s mission.
