Cupid’s Undie Run Comes to Scottsdale to Help Find a Cure for Neurofibromatosis
We’ve all heard of running shorts. But how about running without shorts?
Hundreds of Valley residents are expected to take part in the local version of the nation’s largest pantsless party and run for charity, to raise awareness around the disease neurofibromatosis.
Cupid’s Undie Run will take place on Feb. 16 from 12-4 p.m. at Wasted Grain, 7295 E. Stetson Dr., Scottsdale.
Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a rare genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on the nerves throughout the body. It affects more than 2.5 million people worldwide — regardless of ethnicity or gender — making it more prevalent than cystic fibrosis, Duchenne muscular dystrophy, and Huntington’s disease combined.
With no cure as of today, NF may lead to blindness, deafness, bone abnormalities, disfigurement, learning disabilities, disabling pain and cancer.
Cupid’s Charity is the nonprofit host of Cupid’s Undie Run, and proceeds goes to the research of NF through its partner the Children’s Tumor Foundation, a nonprofit focused primarily on NF research.
Since its inception in 2010, Cupid’s Undie Run participants have raised more than $16.9 million, and have helped the number of NF drugs in clinical trials go from zero to 16 to date.
