By Lynette Carrington
Cortney’s Place recently held its 2nd Annual Cheers to Future Years event at Scottsdale Beer Company. Owner Doug Ledger opened his doors for the second year in a row for the private event to support the organization, which services adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
More than 150 guests kicked off the celebration with a VIP hour that included appetizers and a private performance from singer Justin Toler, an artist with autism, and a meet-and-greet with the students and families of Cortney’s Place.
During the intimate VIP hour, supporters shared stories and memories of the organization’s mission and the success that the organization has had in the lives of its students.
The main event included an outdoor beer garden with acoustic performer Joannah Zamora, DJ Tarvis Hughes, outdoor games, and a step-and-repeat that was used heavily by the guests to share their experiences at the event.
“The night ended at 10 p.m. and as people started to make their way home, and we as a team got to see the impact we made,” said Cortney’s Place development director Samantha Mason. “The impact the team at Scottsdale Beer Company made on their community, the impact that the volunteers made on our guests and as a whole we made as a team to educate a large group of people about the abilities of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are thrilled by the turn out and are excited to partner with Scottsdale Beer Company again for another great year.”
Cortney Place’s mission is to provide physically and mentally challenged individuals with a variety of opportunities through education and programs for life, giving them an ability to further reach their individual goals which elevate their personal potential as members of our community.
