Tony Award-Winning Actress to perform at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts
Tony Award-winning actress Kelli O’Hara will perform Broadway classics alongside pianist and commentator Seth Rudetsky at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, January 27.
O’Hara first gained recognition as Clara in the Tony Award-winning musical “Light in the Piazza” in 2005. In 2015, she received a Tony Award for Best Lead Actress in a Musical for her portrayal of Anna Leonowens in “The King and I” revival at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
Other notable roles include Nellie in “South Pacific,” in 2008 and the female lead in the musical version of “The Bridges of Madison County” in 2014. She has also performed in operas, including “The Merry Widow” and “Dido and Aneas.”
She has appeared on television in NBC’s “Peter Pan Live,” “Masters of Sex” and “13 Reasons Why.”
Rudetsky launched his career as a pit pianist in 1988 — performing for shows such as “Les Miserables” and “Phantom of the Opera.” His career expanded to commentary and he now has two shows, “Seth’s Big Fat Broadway” and “Seth Speaks” on Sirius XM. He also writes the “Onstage & Backstage” column for Playbill magazine.
Their appearance is part of the performing arts center’s “Mark Cortale’s Broadway @ Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts” series taking place in the Virginia G. Piper Theater, which will feature candid showbiz stories and concerts by Broadway stars accompanied by Rudtstky.
