Prince’s Protégé to Perform at MIM

Kandace Springs, who is known for being discovered by and sharing a stage with Prince, will perform at the Musical Instrument Museum on Thursday, November 2.

Springs is inspired by jazz artists such as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Roberta Flack and Norah Jones. She released her first EP in 2014, which was influenced by Pop & Oak, a production duo that has worked with Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Miguel.

Prince discovered Springs after hearing her cover of Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” online. She credits him for helping her to discover her sound, and encouraged her to sing what came naturally to her.

She has performed on several TV shows such as “Late Show with David Letterman,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” and “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” She has also performed at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.
