A new work from Ballet Arizona’s Artistic Director Ib Andersen, set to Ottorino Respighi’s tone poem, “Pines of Rome”. A daring exploration from Ballet Arizona dancer Nayon Iovino, performed to “Echoes”, a composition from the legendary rock band Pink Floyd.

Vincent Gardner was born in Chicago in 1972 and was raised in Hampton, Virginia. After singing, playing piano, violin, saxophone, and French horn at an early age, he decided on the trombone at age 12. Gardner is featured on a number of notable recordings and has recorded five CDs as a leader for Steeplechase Records. He has performed with The Duke Ellington Orchestra, Bobby McFerrin, The Saturday Night Live Band and many others.

Working with restricted formal elements – a limited palette of yellows, oranges, fuchsias and deep purple as wellas a composition of calculated, repeating forms – artist James Marshall generates a visual pulse in SMoCA Lounge. His energetic painting takes its chromatic cue from the intense heat and light of Arizona and the sharp geometric radiation of that light through the rectangular clerestory window in the northeast corner of the Lounge.
