Hot Lips in Scottsdale
To a generation of fans, she might always be Major Margaret “Hot Lips” Houlihan from M*A*S*H*, but she’s also a veteran of Broadway and film. Jan. 3 through 8, Loretta Swit joins four other actresses in a performance of “Love, Loss, and What I Wore” at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts.
With two Emmy awards, 10 Emmy nominations, the People’s Choice Award, Genie Award, Silver Satellite Award and eight Golden Globe nominations, Swit is an American icon.
Written by sisters Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron, “Love, Loss, and What I Wore” is a collection of stories based on the best-selling book by Ilene Beckerman, as well as on the recollections of the Ephrons’ friends. Like the popular book, the show uses clothing, accessories and the memories they trigger to tell funny and often poignant stories to which all women can relate.
The show opened in New York City in 2009 at the Westside Theatre, where it has broken that theater’s box-office records, and was honored with a 2010 Drama Desk Award and a Broadway.com Audience Award. The complete Scottsdale cast will be announced this month.
